firstly the most important part of following a healthy lifestyle is in what you are eating. do you know exactly how many calories a day you need? everyone is different so everyone will have a different amount depending on their goal. if you want to lose weight you need to be in a calorie deficit, if you want to gain weight you need to be in a surplus and if you are looking to maintain your weight you need maintenance calorie. so make sure you are eating the correct amount everyday. using a calorie counting app will help with this.

make sure you have a wide variety of foods to chose from, my members at Karen's weigh to go enjoy delicious meals and snacks from my recipe book which keeps their meals interesting , not boring and the whole family can enjoy them. it can be downloaded via this site.

fruit and vegetables are your friends, but fruit should not be over eaten as it contains calories and carbohydrates, fruits are not free calories . if you are trying to lose weight you need to be counting the calories for fruit, this is very important

eat enough protein , a lot of people eat way too many carbs in their meals and skimp on protein. great sources are chicken breast, turkey, white fish, oily fish like salmon which provides omega 3 also. vegetarians can use lentils, green peas, tofu, chickpeas or a source of beans , quinoa etc to get protein in their meals.

cut down on salt . the recommended daily allowance for adults is 6g. too much salt can cause raised blood pressure, which increases your risk of heart disease and stroke. check foods labels for salt content, especially things you might eat everyday like bread and cereals. my biggest piece of advise to cut down on salt is to ditch the ready meals, frozen , dried pasta that you just add water too and super noodles.

get active. when you think about exercise it can be daunting but find something you enjoy. we offer a wide range of exercise classes , boot camps and group personal training . if you prefer to exercise alone take up walking, running, swimming, etc just make sure you enjoy it then it will never feel like a chore when you go to do it. exercise will help you to lose weight or to keep you at a healthy weight alongside the right eating habits

get enough water everyday. this is actually one of the most important daily habits you should follow. we lose water from our bodies constantly, via urine and sweat. the RDA is set at two liters a day, but if you are exercising and losing a lot through sweat you my need more.

get enough sleep ,another very important tip. try and go to bed every night at the same time, leave the phone out of reach, all electronic devises should not be in the bedroom as they will cause distraction and its been proven they disrupt your sleep.

keeping a healthy lifestyle shouldnt be a chore , chose to be healthy for yourself and your family.
